DESCRIPTION

Dsungaripterus are winged dinosaurs similar to a pteradactyls except their elongated beaks are full of two-inch long teeth. "Dsungas" are typically orange skinned with a thin-membraneous wings. An average-sized dsunga has a 10-foot-wide wing span.
Dsungas tend to flock together during mating periods and the subsequent nesting time. Adult dsungas protect the flock's egg pits with thier lives.

COMBAT

In the natural world, dsungaripterus swoop down on their prey and snatch them up in a flurry of wings and teeth. This tactic lets them carry off their food, usually crustaceans, crack open the shell and suck out the meat.
Snap (Ex): Upon successfully hiting an object with its bite attack, a dsunga can break it without eliciting an attack of opportunity, as if it had a Sunder feat.

TRAINING AN DSUNGARIPTERUS

Training a dsungaripterus as a mount requires a successful Handle Animal check (DC 15 for a young creature, DC 21 for an adult). Dsungas mature in about three years.
Dsungas can only be used as mounts by small sized or smaller creatures. Kobolds get a +2 bonus to all Handle Animal checks when dealing with Dsungas.
While rare, Dsunga eggs are worth about 700 gp on the open market, while young are worth about 1,400 gp each. Professional trainers charge 1,500 gp to rear or train a dsunga. An exotic saddle is required to ride a hylaeosaurus.
A dsungaripterus can attack while it has a rider. The rider cannot attack while on the dsunga unless he or she succeeds at a Ride Check (See Ride, page 72 n the Player's Handbook).
Carrying capacity: Dsungaripterus have delicate frames and cannot carry as much as a normal creature of similar strength. A light load for a is up to 45 lbs., a medium load is 46 to 90 lbs., and a heavy load is 91 to 150 lbs.
