OFFICIAL AVENGERS MEMORANDUM

Re:
Missing Records
From:
Lonni Holland
Asst. Chief Archivist
Avengers Historical Records Division

This is an addendum to the Avengers case logs. Upon review of past records it has come to the attention of this department that many of the chronicles of the former West Coast division of the Avengers may be missing.

A recent scan of the chronological sequence of the files has revealed this problem. The first noted gap occurs after the team's battle against the combined forces of Ultron and the Grim Reaper on New Year's Day of 19-- (* see the Reaper and the Robot AWC 65-68) and the prolonged confrontation against the Pacific Overlords which commenced on July 16 of the same year. (WCA 70-73, which occurred within days of AWC 69).

It is believed that this gap was the result of the virus which was introduced into the Avengers computer systems during the multi-national attack on the Vision (AWC 42-44). In an effort to erase all records concerning the Vision from the computers this wormhole style virus appears to have not only wiped his appearances, but also to have lain dormant in the system, erasing other records in a seemingly random pattern.

Vigilant effort on the part of the Avengers Systems Maintenance department has managed to eliminate this virus from our computers so that no further data should be lost. It is now the responsibility of this department to determine if any more of the records have been compromised and to restore them as soon as possible. I have assigned a team to searching for any additional missing records while I have personally taken on the job of reconstructing the known missing adventures myself.

In order to accomplish this, without the benefit of the official debriefing records, I have been forced to resort to a number of methods to recreate the eliminated data. Since I am unable to access what little remained of the computer records at the West Coast compound I have recorded these adventures through a combination of direct quotations from journals kept by some of the participants, transcripts of interviews with team members and narratives complied of combinations of the aforementioned along with interviews with bystanders, SHIELD records and news reports from the respective time periods.

If additional files are found to be missing they will be replaced in the same manner. It is hoped that the records of the team can be brought up to date as soon as possible as they are used, not only for research by the team when facing old foes, but as an integral part of the training of new members, both in battle techniques as well as team history and spirit.

This department sincerely regrets any inconvenience that these absences may have caused any member of the Avengers team. New and more stringent chronological reviews should eliminate this type of problem in the future.
