Origin and Background: (Vietnamese) Ly Van Cung was his country's hope for a gold in the Olympic Tae Kwon Do competition, but a scandal about suspect drug use tarnished his win and his reputation. A disgraced Cung vanished from from the limelight and disappeared on the streets of Saigon.
He spent several years fighting in illegal match after another in an attempt to lose himself in his shame. Cung didn't care if he won or lost. He took his beatings as punishment for his disgrace. While he was at one of these underground fights he met a strange elderly man called Ngo Tu. This man saw something worth saving in Cung (even if Cung didn't believe it himself) and he selected Cung as his student in the ancient, mystical Dragon Thunder martial art.
It was a hard road, but as Cung mastered the technique he also regained his confidence in himself. Soon Cung was at the top of his form once more, but this time without the disgrace of performance enhancing drugs. Cung knew he didn't need them to achive his goals (not when he had his body's natural energy to draw from). He learnt much from his elderly master, but what he learnt the most was how to be a hero.
Dragon Thunder quickly earned a name for himself as he fought against the various streetgangs that thrived in Saigon's underbelly. But it was his combat and subsequent defeat of a Satsujin Ryodan cell (see Tygera Katse) that brought international attention. Ly Van Cung distinguished himself and brought honour back to his name. It was this particular battle that attracted the Justice Crusader's attention. They offered him a place within their ranks and after muvh thought, he accepted. He now spends time either on the homefront in Vietnam, or with his fellow Justice Crusaders.

A note about Vietnamese names -- they are usually composed of three components. First is the family/clan name (Ly), and then the middle or cushion name (Van) and finally the personal name (Cung).
