This is not intended to be a complete reference work for information about World War 2 and the events which led to it. It is simply a primer, and basic reference. GMs who wish to use any of the events listed here in a campaign are urged to research them further.

1889

• Adolph Hitler born in Austria

• World War 1 begins.

• World War 1 ends.

• Hitler joins the German Worker's party.

• German Worker's party becomes the National Socialist Germen Worker's party. The Sturmabteilungen, or SA, are established.

• Hitler becomes "unlimited chairman" of the Nazi party, and the Nazi flag is adopted.

• November 8, Hitler and 600 armed storm troopers marched on a beer hall in Munich. Gustav von Kahr, head of the Bavarian government, was addressing a public meeting there. Hitler took von Kahr prisoner and announced the formation of a new government. On von Kahr's release he turned against Hitler and sent in the Munich police. The Nazis fled, Hitler was later arrested and jailed for nine months during which time he wrote the book Mein Kampf.

• The Freedom Alliance, a group of Allied heroes, is formed.
